T Bend 2T Weather Resistant Color Coated Steel Coil Anti Chalking
Bend performance and weather resistance usually pull in opposite directions. A coating flexible enough to survive a tight fold tends to be softer, and a soft coating weathers faster. This coil is formulated to hold both: it passes a T bend 2T test, meaning the film survives a 180 degree fold over two sheet thicknesses without cracking, while the top coat still carries the UV stabilizer and anti chalking pigment package needed for exterior exposure.
The T bend result is verified per production batch on the actual gauge supplied, not on a laboratory sample of a different thickness. That distinction matters because the same coating on 0.4 mm and 0.8 mm steel behaves differently at the fold.

Where the Combination Matters
- Profiled roof and wall sheets with tight bends at ribs and pans.
- Edge trims and flashings folded on site with hand tools.
- Panels formed after delivery, where the coating must survive field bending.
- Exterior equipment housings with folded seams.
- Any part where a crack at the fold would start a corrosion path.
Application Areas
- Industrial and agricultural roofing profiles
- Cold formed wall cladding systems
- Folded flashings, ridge caps and gutters
- Outdoor enclosures and signage structures
Product Questions
Why does the primer matter so much for bending?
The primer carries most of the elongation. A brittle primer will crack before the top coat does, and the crack then propagates upward. We use a flexible epoxy at a controlled five micron so the primer moves with the steel.
Does bending damage the anti chalking performance?
Not if the film stays intact. Once cracked, moisture reaches the substrate and the corrosion that follows is a bigger problem than any color shift, which is why the bend test is the first thing we check.
What is the tightest bend you support?
2T on our standard system for gauges up to 0.8 mm. For a 1T requirement we would move to a softer primer and a lower film build, and we ask for the profile drawing before committing.
Can the coil be re coiled after slitting?
Yes. Slitting edge quality affects corrosion more than the coating, so we recommend deburred edges and prompt edge sealing on exposed cuts.
Packing and Traceability
Each coil is wrapped in PVC film with paper interleaving, strapped on a pallet and labelled with heat number, coating batch and the bend test result for that run. Keeping the bend result on the label lets a fabricator see immediately whether a coil is cleared for a tight profile.
Field Notes
Fabricators often bend the same panel twice, once at the factory and again on site to fit an opening. Coils with verified 2T behaviour tolerate that second operation far better, and we recommend keeping the bend test certificate with the delivery so a site dispute can be settled with data rather than opinion.
Coating thickness matters more than coating brand in service: Top 20 - 25 micron, primer 5 micron. Below roughly 20 micron total build, UV exposure in strong sun starts to chalk the surface within a few years, and the colour drifts before the steel itself shows any problem.
Formability is specified as T bend 2T verified per batch, 9 J reverse impact. This determines whether the strip can be roll formed and folded at the job site without cracking the coating over the bend radius, which is the most common cause of premature coating failure on roofing panels.

5 metric tons. Smaller trial runs are quoted separately because coating line setup cost per ton rises sharply below that volume.
15 - 25 days after deposit, counted from receipt of the deposit. Gauge, width and whether the shade is held in stock all affect the schedule.

On this specification the coating build is Top 20 - 25 micron, primer 5 micron and the expected service life is 20 years color retention in C3 environment. Durability figures assume the material is installed and maintained within the environment class stated.
Yes. On this specification the substrate is Galvanized steel Z180 - Z275 and bending performance is T bend 2T verified per batch, 9 J reverse impact, which covers normal profiling and standing seam forming.
ISO 9001, EN 10169, RoHS. Mill certificates and third party test reports can be issued with the shipment.
